Exhibition With CeramAiR Artist: Mona Lisa Ali @ Caetani Cultural Centre

Mona Lisa Ali is a Jordanian-American artist. She works in 3D media, between virtual and physical space. Primarily working in CGI and sculpture, her work deals with externalizing ideas of cultural transmission, place, and resting points.

She recently completed a residency at YYZ in Toronto, and at Spring Sessions, a communal residency in Amman, Jordan, where she was invited to participate for a second year. Her most recent exhibition was an installation at Darat Al Fanun, a beacon for contemporary Arab art in Amman

This 4-week workshop series taught by Nika (@acroface) and Aiden (@ropezilla) is a great way to try out Acro Yoga or improve on your existing skills. If you haven’t heard of acro yoga before, acro yoga is a mix of poses in a partnership or group - mixed with a little bit of acrobatics and a lot of FUN!

Safety is a top priority in our classes and we will be teaching spotting with every new pose. We will encourage everyone to try basing, flying, and spotting in our workshops but will also give you space to choose not to participate in any of the roles if you choose otherwise.

*No experience in Acro Yoga, yoga, or acrobatics necessary!

Tea Blending Workshop @ Teassential

Spend an evening learning about the art of tea blending! You'll be provided with samples of some of our very own custom tea blends, as well as all the ingredients you'll need to make your own delicious tea. Once you've perfected your tea blend, you'll be able to take home a bamboo canister filled with your own unique tea blend!

Event cost: $40 + gst – Price includes all your supplies, unlimited tea and a bamboo container of your tea to take home!

Drawing the Landscape in Pencil @ Vernon Community Arts Centre

Explore the creative handling, spontaneity and freedom that a simple pencil can offer as we practice drawing the elements of the landscape, industrial scenes, houses, cityscapes, boats, harbours and reflections.  Perspective, form and composition will be discussed as they apply to our ongoing exercises.  The interpretation, practice and pitfalls of drawing from photographs will also be discussed. Price includes all materials.

Wild Women Writing Circle @ Caetani Cultural Centre

In this series with transformational memoir-writing instructor Janelle Hardy we’ll use a generative writing circle format with timed writing prompts to get ourselves into the writing habit, generate new stories as well as to share and listen deeply to one another.

This process is creative magic, connected, deep and playful. We'll write like wild women, swift, uncensored and unleashed. Limit to 6 participants per circle. $265.

~ TOM WATERS ~ Tom Waters is becoming one of Englands greatest exponents for blues\Jazz saxophone. Working with The Rolling Stones, Ray Davies, Jools Holland, he has already made a name for himself. Tom shows a wide range of versatility and creativity in his playing.

Tom is influenced by Ray Charles' sax players from Hank Crawford to David 'Fathead' Newman and studies the style in which they play. He is a big fan of their sound and plays songs in a similar Idiom. He also draws influence from David Sanborn and Nigel Hitchcock.
