Poetry Master Class with John Lent @ Caetani Cultural Centre
John Lent presents two Master Classes in Prose and Poetry at the Caetani Cultural Centre!
Masterclasses are 8 weeks in duration, with one three hour session per week plus additional one-on-one time with noted author John Lent.
Class membership is limited to 12 advanced writers working on a manuscript.

Tuition: $425.00 per course.
REGISTER ONLINE NOW FOR WINTER POETRY MASTERCLASS

Classes will be a mixture of discussions about contemporary poetry, demonstrations in writing and editing poetry (especially short and long forms), and critiquing sessions that will focus on class members’ work.

There is nothing in the world quite like the density of poetry. It can be so fascinating and demanding, so exquisite. My hope is that we will create a community of poets looking out for one another and pushing ourselves toward publication. Again, this should be the ideal class for any poet who is working away in solitude and could use the support and clarity that a small community of like- minded poets can provide sometimes.

If you are interested in exploring my career as a professional writer, teacher and editor so you understand my background and interests in poetry better, please visit my website: www.johnlent.ca

Cosmic Throat Singer Matthew Kocel Heal & Immerse Okanagan @ Schubert Centre
“Words seem so deficient for explaining the depth of experience
we all felt... I was being moved by sound, my whole body was light and vibrating.”
— Vancouver Yoga Review

There will be seating areas and areas to lie down, if you wish to lie down please bring a yoga mat for your comfort. Cash Tickets available at the door also - bring a friend!

Imagine floating in an ocean of sacred sound... vibration so profound it seems to take on qualities of form, texture and color. It’s hard to believe these sounds come from a human.

The harmonic overtones of his voice resonate to the core of your being, taking you on a journey beyond time and space.

The effect is often compared to sacred plant medicines - and has been described as healing for the Earth and the heart of humanity.

This is your opportunity to experience pure bliss in an intimate setting with internationally renowned throat singer/sound healer
Matthew Kocel.

Based in Vancouver BC, Matthew Kocel is a man on a mission to inspire healing and peace through the universal language of sacred sound. In the last year alone he has brought this vision- inducing music to France, New York, the Western United States and Canada.

Recognized as an emerging leader in the world sound healing movement, Matthew is a committee member of the Global Wellness Institute Sound Healing initiative. https://OmShaman.com

The Small Glories @ Prestige Vernon Lodge & Conference Centre
The Small Glories return to Vernon Folk-Roots Music Society!
Folk powerhouse pair The Small Glories are hometown girl Cara Luft & JD Edwards, a dynamic duo planted on the Canadian Prairies. A self-professed “study in contrasts,” Luft's folkie yin proves a perfect match for Edwards’ rocker yang. Thrown together purely by accident for an anniversary show at Winnipeg’s venerable West End Cultural Centre, The Small Glories is a partnership that could almost make you believe in fate.

Straight out of the gate these two veteran singer/songwriters built a buzz around their tight harmonies, authenticity, visceral live performances and equally well-matched guitar prowess that doesn’t come around often. Luft packs a mean banjo as well. The Winnipeg Free Press asks, "can two singer-songwriters be better than one? Yes, emphatically, yes, if the two in question are Cara Luft and JD Edwards... It’s our loss they didn’t [join forces] sooner... It’s magic.”

Their 2016 debut album “Wondrous Traveler” is steeped in classic song structure, delivering instantly appealing melodic Americana with first-rate playing. The album found its way onto many critic’s Top 10 lists across North America and Europe, and The Small Glories are finding themselves on stages from Vancouver to London and beyond. Together, Luft and Edwards are a musical tour de force, a case of 1 + 1 = 3.

Winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play, this is the hilarious comedy of middle-aged siblings Vanya and Sonia, who have never left the confines of their childhood home in Bucks County, PA. Suddenly, their movie-star sister Masha swoops in with her much younger boy toy, Spike, and the normally quiet household is thrown into utter upheaval. Adding to the mayhem are Cassandra, the sooth-saying maid, and Nina, an adoring young aspiring actress. Join the fun as they all get swept up in an intoxicating mixture of lust, rivalry, regret, and the sudden possibility of escape.
