If You Only Do ONE Thing...

Often we get asked, where do I start with updating my home prior to listing it on the market, and the answer is very simple - Declutter! Taking the time to declutter your space helps potential buyers to immerse themselves in what may one day be their home. Here are a few strategies for your decluttering 👇

1️⃣ Sorting through your stuff ahead of time will not only help you to see all of your belongings that need to move with you, but it will also help the home to look larger when items are removed. Sort your items like this - items to pack, items to donate, items that need to remain in the home.

2️⃣ Buyers truly need to see the space they are getting, to see its value. By clearing the clutter, a potential buyer can truly see the condition of the home – and this is really hard when you have most of it covered with your belongings. Declutter items from your home to allow the buyer to see the space and imagine themselves living in it – you are selling a lifestyle and a dream.

3️⃣ When you start the packing and sorting process ahead of time, you will be in a really good position to finish packing when the time comes – and it will be so much less overwhelming. Decluttering sets you up for ultimate packing success before a move.

4️⃣ When a buyer views a property, they can get distracted very easily by your life, and the items in it. Often buyers can simply overlook what they should be looking at (space, light, flow, etc…), as they'll want to know more about the people who currently own it. Depersonalizing your space means removing some of your photos and items prior to listing.
