Hello,

September 30, 2022, is Canada's 2nd Annual Truth and Reconciliation Day. We want to share some praise for local author Brian Thomas Isacc and an informative site  we found. We encourage you to pause today, reflect, and perhaps take a moment to investigate either of these resources. We can do better. Together.

Okanagan First Nations author Brian Thomas Isaac’s debut novel, All the Quiet Places, has been nominated for the Scotiabank Giller Prize, Canada’s richest literary award for fiction.

Brian has been overwhelmed by the support for his novel over the past year, but this nomination for Canada’s top fiction prize was extremely meaningful. As he says, “If someone had told me when I walked out of school with only a grade 8 education that at the age of 72, I would be longlisted for the best fiction book in Canada I would not have believed it.” After leaving school, Brian had a short career riding bulls in local rodeos until common sense steered him away. He went on to work in the Northern Alberta oil fields and eventually retired as a bricklayer. Looking back to his 12-year-old self with a chuckle Brian adds, “being nominated for such a prestigious book award would have seemed laughable. . . or to live that long! To Elana Rabinovitch and the 2022 Giller Prize jury, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

WHAT ELSE WE'RE TALKING ABOUT

This could be the difference between a house that sells & one that doesn't

In today’s market, as we’re seeing a more balanced market begin to form, pricing your home correctly can make the difference between a house that sells and one that doesn't.

That sounds simple, but it’s true.

A home that's been priced too high is typically off-putting to home buyers, and although negotiating home prices can be a necessary part of the home buying process, it could prolong the home buying journey.

If your home is overpriced when it hits the market, the chance of there needing to be a price reduction is higher, which could again be off-putting to a buyer and mean that your home is on the market for longer than necessary.

This week, we’re sharing our thoughts on home pricing and how to price your home properly without leaving money on the table.
