The Importance of Reviewing Wells & Septic Systems
The Importance of Reviewing Wells & Septic Systems Prior to Purchase
Keeping Your Family Safe:
Our top priority when working with you is to make sure your best interests are ALWAYS at the forefront of every conversation we have and any suggestions we provide.
When it comes to purchasing a property that has a well and/or septic system, you will want to make sure you're having them professionally inspected and tested. There are a variety of wells;
♦️ dug (shallow) wells,
♦️ bored wells,
♦️ Artesian and
♦️ drilled wells.
Not only could it be an expensive undertaking to repair or replace these systems, but more importantly, it could pose a health risk to you and your family if there are any issues, such as water quality or septic seepage.
Questions to ask the homeowner:
♦️ Can you provide a copy of the septic system permit?
♦️ When was the last time the septic tank was pumped out?
♦️ When was the last time the well water was tested?
♦️ To your knowledge, have there been any problems with the well or septic system?
♦️ Do you have a record of the maintenance and repairs for the septic system and well?
During the home inspection, if the inspector finds any concerns that should be addressed, a licensed well contractor can be contacted to provide an estimate of the work that needs to be done. From there, we'll have a candid conversation about how you'd like to move forward.
It's important to choose professionals you can trust, so when we work together, you gain access to our vetted referral partners to help keep your family - and your investment - safe.
