Easter Egg Hunt & Grand Opening @ Allan Brooks Nature Centre

Join us at our grand opening and Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 20th from 10-2pm for a fun and educational day. Coldstream Community Easter Egg Hunt @ Mackie Lake House

The hunt will kick off at 10:15 am, and is BYOB - bring your own basket! Admission is just $2 per person! As the hunt winds down, take part in Easter-themed crafts as well as classic lawn games. There will also be prizes, including for best hand-made Easter basket. This event is fun for all ages and is a perfect way for families to enjoy a long weekend in the beautiful Okanagan.

Mason Burns @ Lorenzo's Cafe

This 22-year-old of Penticton, British Columbia, grew up listening to Classic Rock:  Arlo Guthrie, Ten Years After, The Rolling Stones, Green Day, T. Rex and The Beatles are among the artists who have influenced his musical style. His all-time favourite  band is Led Zeppelin.  My music is “very 70’s sounding but with a fresh twist to it,” says Mason Burns.  These two songs, “Sunset Eyes” and “Electric Hunny”, are singles from his soon-to-be-released album, which was recorded entirely in analog at Ellis Avenue Analog Recording Studios in Summerland. Of the recording process, Mason says, “It’s like painting a picture and seeing it all come together before your eyes.” $10 cover.

Bob Rogers Quintet @ Vernon Jazz Club

One of Canada’s finest Trombonists, Bob Rogers has had storied career as an in demand session and freelance musician, performing with artists such as Natalie Cole, the O’Jays, the Temptations, and the Vancouver and Victoria Symphonies and Operas. Today he lives in Revelstoke, teaches music and remains active as a performer as a regular member of the Okanagan, Kamloops and Cranbrook Symphony Orchestra’s.

The band will play a mix of original tunes and fresh takes on jazz standards. Swing, latin and funky grooves, there will be something for everyone.

The Bob Rogers Quintet consists of Bob on trombone, Rick Lindgard (sax), Jordan Dick (guitar), Shannon Sternoff (bass), and Trevor Wallach (drums)

UBCO Faculty Art Lecture Series: Briar Craig @ Vernon Public Art Gallery

From the early experiments by artists like Pablo Picasso and George Braque, collage has played a pivotal role in many of the dominant art movements of the 20th and 21st centuries and has infiltrated our very way of thinking about artistic practices.  Everything from painting and installation to music sampling and animation has been flavored by the influences of collage.  The talk will be an idiosyncratic and personalized take on how collage changed the art world. With her earliest idols being Miss Billie Holiday followed by Etta James and Janis Joplin, it’s not surprising to hear hints of Jazz and Funk thrown in there as well. She has run the gambit on musical styles including Folk, Country, Bluegrass, Rock, Funk, Jazz and finally Blues.
