Lap the Lake Regatta @ Vernon Rowing & Dragon Boat Club

Located on the beautiful swan lake, with a 3.5km head race, 500m sprints and a BBQ lunch this event has it all! Entry is only $40+tax and includes all the racing you would like to enter as well as a fantastic BBQ lunch! Race or simply participate, the choice is yours, exciting fun for rowers of all ages and abilities is our focus!

Coaching clinic (Guest coach; Drew Harrison!) and brunch Sunday, June 9, 9am-12pm- Entry is $30.

Felted Slippers @ Vernon Community Arts Centre

In this class students will learn how to make a pair of wet felted slippers using a resist.  We will use Short Fibre Merino for the slippers and also some accent pieces like hand dyed teeswater locks, tussah silk and mohair. Prior felting experience required. Hand strength is a must for this class.  Felting requires repetitive use of wrists, hands and arms.  Please bring a large metal bowl, apron, 2 towels and a piece of bubble wrap that is approximately 36″ by 36″. Price includes all other materials.

Creative Chaos Craft Show @ Vernon Recreation Centre

Located in the sunny North Okanagan, the city of Vernon is host to the annual craft show and sale. It supports over 200 artisans from across BC and Canada, along with entertainment and a food fair. The Creative Chaos Craft Show will be held in 3 buildings; Vernon Recreation Centre, Vernon Curling Club and Priest Valley Arena. Make sure you check out the vendors in all three buildings!

Stop Motion Animation (Parent & Child Ages 7-10) @ Vernon Community Arts Centre

Explore the wonderful world of claymation! Participants will be introduced to the techniques of frame by frame animation using their own characters made from modelling clay. In this hands-on workshop, you'll storyboard a simple idea, design your own amazing character and then bring it to life in a short animated film around 20-30 seconds long. Learn insider tips and tricks from a pro that you won't get anywhere else! Students need to bring their own flash drive to take home a digital file of their animation. Price includes all other materials.

Florence Green, a free-spirited widow, puts grief behind her and risks everything to open up a bookshop -- the first such shop in the sleepy seaside town of Hardborough, England. But this mini social revolution soon brings her fierce enemies: she invites the hostility of the town's less prosperous shopkeepers and also crosses Mrs. Gamart, Harborough's vengeful, embittered alpha female who is a wannabe doyenne of the local arts scene.

Capture people and movement with the delightful technique of using a palette knife with acrylic paints. During the 4 lessons students will indulge in creating images of dancers, athletes and sports figures etc. in bold, powerful strokes.

Supplies to bring: Canvas/ canvas boards, acrylic (basic colours), with an additional white, flat palette, masking/painters tape, palette knives 1″ and  2 ” wide, a few pieces of stiff cardboard or old credit cards, source pictures, hair dryer

Devinci Demo Experience with Skyride @ Ellison Provincial Park

Devinci Experience demo team are partnering up with Skyride in Vernon to bring you some great new 2019 bike demos! Join them at the Ellison Park upper trailhead (Eastside Rd, Vernon, BC) between 3-8pm. (Search 5HH9+34 Vernon, British Columbia on Google Maps for directions).

"Come for a pedal on one of our latest carbon 2019 Troy all mountain 27.5 or 29ers, our Spartan 29er enduro race bike, or our smile inducing full suspension AC ebike (where the trails permit). Bike sizes available to demo: Troy 27.5: XS - M Troy 29: SM - XL Spartan 27.5: L Spartan 29: S – XL AC e-bike: S - XL"

Please bring your own pedals (they have some spare flats, SPD’s or Crankbrothers if you need them), protective riding gear, and your ID/credit card to be allowed to demo. Maximum 2 hours per demo, all demos are first come first served and subject to weather cancellations. Last bike out at 7 pm.

Wahine Wednesday @ Kalavida Surf Shop

Wahine Wednesdays are all about the girls getting together on the water - The Ladies of the Lake! Launching from Kal Beach, each week will include something a little different - it could be a soothing sunset paddle, a cruise alongside the Okanagan Rail Trail, story telling, or maybe even a yoga move or two.

No need to pre-register, just drop in to register before 5:30 each Wednesday.

Who should join in?
This is a relaxed group paddle for Women have paddled before - Those who are new to SUP are encouraged to rent a couple of times or take an Intro to SUP Lesson before joining a Wahine Paddle Night.

Starts Wednesday, June 12

On the water at: 6pm
Need a board? - $30 plus tax
Have a board? - Minimum donation of $10.

A portion of the donation goes towards SPKL (Society for the Protection of Kalamalka Lake)Beverages, snacks and good vibes are supplied after the paddle.

If you haven’t heard of acro yoga before, acro yoga is a mix of poses in a partnership or group - mixed with a little bit of acrobatics and a lot of FUN! You will be amazed at how much you can accomplish in just 4 weeks.
