Thanks for stopping by!
Have you checked your home equity lately?
According to CREA, the national average sale price in Canada was $695,412 in April 2026. Back in March 2020, it was just over $540,000.
That’s a difference of roughly $155,000.
Of course, national averages don’t tell the full story. Your home’s equity depends on where you live, what you owe, when you bought, and how your local market has changed.
But the bigger picture is still important.
Statistics Canada reported that household residential real estate in Canada was valued at $8.45 trillion at the end of 2025. At the same time, CMHC reported that residential mortgage debt reached $2.4 trillion in early 2026.
The bottom line?
Even with a slower market, many Canadian homeowners may still have more equity than they realize.
If you’re thinking about renovating, buying an investment property, consolidating debt, or making a move, it may be a good time to get a clearer picture of where you stand.

WHAT'S HAPPENING?
WHAT ELSE WE ARE TALKING ABOUT
Before you choose a list price, read this
If you're thinking about selling this summer, pricing is probably one of the first things on your mind.
It's also one of the easiest places to get tripped up by outdated information. A home that sold in March may have gone under contract in January or February. The market buyers are responding to right now may look different than what the closed sales suggest.
That's why the pricing conversation we have together goes beyond recent sales. We'll also look at what's active, what has reduced, what buyers are passing over, and how your price affects which searches your home shows up in online.
We wrote a post that breaks this down in a practical way.
